Example: Road construction
In Metronamica you can investigate the effects of introducing a new road to the current road network. You can either draw the road directly in the network or import a file prepared in a GIS. Note that the road type and time of construction can be specified and that it is also possible to remove roads. The effects of the changes to the road network can be observed directly. For example, a positive effect of building a new road might be an increase in commercial activity along the road profiting from potential customers that drive by. A negative effect might be the fragmentation of natural habitat, which can result in a loss of biodiversity.
